“Be hooked on” means not to have as hobby or sport, to spend a lot of time doing.

“Be hooked on” の意味は、趣味を持ったり、スポーツに夢中になること。

ー クリスマスプレゼントについて、デパートで両親の会話 ー

A: What else could we get?

A: あとは、何か買うものあった?

B: What about a new video game?

B: 新しいビデオゲームは?

A: Well, I don’t want them to be really hooked on video games.

A: うーん, ビデオゲームに夢中になってもらいたくないんだけどなー。

B: yeah, a lot of kids are hooked on them, and it doesn’t look to healthy.

B: そーよねー、よその子はみんなゲームに夢中になってるけど、健康的じゃないのよねー。
